Buy on Amazon Optional Guidelines for the Mixtape Journal The Mixtape Escape Journal comes with a set of guidelines and suggestions you can utilize if you’re looking for creative new ways to personalize your writing experience. That being said, you’re the Big Kahuna when it comes to this journal. Ultimately, you make your own rules. That’s the beauty of structureless structure. You have exposure to new ways of doing things, but you only implement the stuff that feels right for you. Mixtape Escape Journal Pages Every other page in the journal will look like the circle-square-triangle page pictured above. As outlined in the guidelines section, there’s lots of potential for these three little shapes. The remaining pages in the journal are a rotation of the other six page designs. Again, the guidelines explain how these other pages can make an impact on your writing experience. Mixtape Escape Intro (first few pages of the journal): *Note: the Mixtape Escape Journal also includes a glossary for 1980’ish slang. It’s a handy little addition so those who didn’t live through the 80’s can still translate the Mixtape Escape’s motivational and inspirational introduction (as follows): “Structure is lame. Like, totally gag me with a spoon. However, structureless structure is a most excellent adventure. This journal is all about structureless structure. Follow the guidelines if you want. Don’t follow the guidelines. What’ev. Just make it yours. Bash it. Thrash it. Let your pen wig out all over the pages. There’s no right or wrong way to express yourself and/or get to know yourself better. You create your timeline. Write daily. Write weekly. Heck, don’t open this journal unless you’ve got some hella bogus thoughts you need to get out of your head. There’s no rules. No reason to freak out about failing or doing it wrong. Just chill. Veg. Breathe. Be.How you capture what you’re feeling is totally up to you, because in this journal you’re the Big Kahuna. Write complete sentences. Draw. Doodle. Scribble down random words and phrases. Make lists. Compose a song or poem. What’ev. It’s all legit here. Just do what you can to translate your inner thoughts and feelings onto paper. Laugh. Cry. Scream, like, totally to the max! Don’t be afraid to feel your inner “Yikes!” Like, feel the bite-me and no-can-do feelings you have sometimes. Or maybe you have those feelings all the time? If it’s the latter, like, def write that $#!t down. And don’t be afraid to dream beyond what you think is possible for yourself. Dream beyond the borders and corners of your comfort zone. Totally get to know those borders and corners. Push against them. Pound on them. Challenge them. Yell, “Nobody puts baby in the corner, damn it!”Why? Because beyond the borders and corners of your comfort zone is where your most primo and happenin’ self awaits for your most excellent arrival.Whoa! That’s, like, probably what desire and passion are; an inner compass guiding you back to your Mega-Happenin-Primo’ness.Remember: Honor your past. It may have been butt-ugly at times, but it will forever be one of your most valuable teachers.Trust in your future. Like, get stoked about it. The future won’t always unfold in sync with your original visions and plans, but it will be uniquely righteous if you take control of your life’s joystick.Pac-Man the $#!% out of your life, homeslice! Be done with the Blinkys, Pinkys, Inkys and Clydes forever!PSYCH! That totally won’t happen. You’ll always have toxic demons and ugly ghosts getting in the way of your dreams sometimes. It’s just the facts of life. But, like, don’t wig out about it too much, because… Sometimes we don’t know what we truly want until what we truly need happens unexpectedly. It may be unexpectedly wonderful or unexpectedly ugly, but it will be unexpectedly needed for inner growth. That’s why you should always extend an open invitation to serendipity. Like, maybe the ooglay situation you’re in right now is serendipity in disguise. Maybe serendipity is a slap across the face, snapping you out of the mirage you’re claiming for a reality. A wake up. An enlightenment or realizing. A refocusing. Seeing. Becoming. Being.What’ev. All that said, it’s important to remember you’re not defined by the experiences of your past or the desires of your future. Those things may provide valuable lessons and offer some direction, but they are not YOU. You, for sure, exist solely in this very moment. Like, for sure. So, in this moment, make sure you’re not acting like a wannabe or poser. The natural-born, genuine YOU is way too bitchin’ to swap for a lookalike imposter. You’re a most stellar and exceptional human being. Remember that. Always. Also, don’t waste your time dweebing-out over how you compare to others. It’s a waste of time and energy. You’re a bodacious original. Again, remember that. Always. And, yo… some real talk here: originals are compared to no one and no thing. I’ll say it again. Originals are compared to NO ONE and NO THING.Instead, KNOW you’re fantabulous and hella schweet: even if your brain is trying to convince you otherwise. Word? You are not a wastoid, hoser or grody buttmunch. Never. Not even. Not even for a day. That said, sometimes people’s brains and views of reality can get warped to the mega-max. If this is the case and you start trippin’ about things like hopelessness and a dead-end future, reach out to a friend or professional immediately. I kid you not, there are homeboys and homegirls on this planet who big time want to be there for you: even if your brain is trying to convince you otherwise. One last thing… Pay attention to the mixtape of thoughts playing repeatedly in your mind. You know the mixtape. Everyone has one. It’s either saying stuff like:“You’ve got this, beautiful!”“Today’s dreams are tomorrow’s reality.”“What an absolutely bitchin’ day!”Or your inner mixtape is saying stuff life:“I’m not enough.”“I’ll never be able to do that.”“No one will ever love something like me.”Uh! Barf me out!Like, I get it. Sometimes you feel like The Empress. Sometimes you feel like The Nothing. Or maybe you feel like an invisible nothing all the time, everyday? What’ev. Just take a chill pill and relax. Breathe. Totally don’t let some event, mistake or disappointing decade dictate the story you’re here to tell. You’re a Neverending Story, homeslice. The possibilities for your future are endless. So just… be.Like, totally do and be whatever you’re physically, mentally and emotionally capable of at this point in time. Don’t worry about being more. Don’t worry about being less. Just, be. Eventually, when you know better, you’ll totally do and be better. So, chill. You’ve got this!Like, no duh. Of course you got this! You’re the whole mega package, homeslice. An excellent adventure. A bodacious story. So, like, totally start writing and creating your story, NOW, in the Mixtape Escape Journal.“ The Mixtape Escape Journal: Purge heinous thoughts, capture the most triumphant feels & imagine a totally awesome future.
